Welcome to the Scout page, we hope you have fun reading it and if you would like to join us as a Scout or Scout leader please do not hesitate to contact the Group Scout Leader (details on the Contact Us page).

Who are the Scout’s?

This section is the most senior in the group before the district explorers and are aged 10½ to 14yrs. Members can join this section six months early if they have missed Cub’s or have developed quickly in the Cub’s, and they can also move on to the Explorer section in the same manner. (This is by local agreement within the 24th Ipswich Scout Group).

The Scout uniform is a light blue/green polo shirt, the group colour scarf and a leather woggle. The uniform is available from Craftabilty or the National School Wear shops in Ipswich.

What do we do?

We have participated in various activities from scuba diving, bike ride, archery, rifle shooting and that’s only half the year.

The troop is constantly trying to promote badge work within the programme, and encourages parents to take an active role in helping their child gain badges. Although it looks easier in the book than it.Really is we have achieved good results by completing badges as a section, however we encourage the child to challenge themselves with the new Scout badge book available from your leader (small fee*). This book tells them all about the badges and what they need to do to complete them.

The Scout section also goes camping; this is under canvas can be away for up to a week at any time under supervision and can travel anywhere in the UK or abroad. The activities during camp could be archery, rifle shooting, climbing, abseiling, swimming, rafting, canoeing/kayaking and many many more!

Our programme can be found by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

When do they meet and what does it cost?

We meet on Thursdays from 7:30pm - 9:30pm, depending on what activity we are undertaking each week.

The Scout’s pay subs once they have been enrolled and is £25 per term, payable at the beginning of each school term.

Can parents get involved too?

Yes.  If the Scout’s are doing an activity such as crazy golf or going for a bike ride parents are more than welcome to come along and join in. We do ask that all parents complete the CRB form, so you can rest assured that any adult assisting us has been cleared through the Criminal Records Bureau for being in contact with children. As well as this, the group runs a variety of fun actives for all the family including BBQ’s, quiz nights and our annual carol concert, details of which can be found on the Group Events page.

If you require more information on the Scout Troop, please feel free to contact the leadership team. Contact details are on the contact us page.
